Yolène
Legrand, an internationally recognized artist, muralist and art
instructor is of the new generation of Haitian born artists living
in New York. Many of her sophistically rendered, luminous paintings
reflect the vibrant colors of Haiti. The sensitive and evocative
treatment of her subject matter, drawn from personal experiences,
captivates the viewer time and time again. Her interest in art began
when she was a child, drawing everything in sight. Although she
originally studied Business in college and went on to receive a
Master's degree in Finance and to pursue a successful career in
International Banking, her passion for art always remained strong.
Eventually she enrolled in the Art Students League of New York where
she developed her artistic talent. Legrand stated "my main goal
in painting is to document through my art the places that have touched
me as an artist. I think of myself as primarily a landscape painter
because nature is pure joy for me..." Her paintings have been exhibited
in many galleries and museums in the US, Europe and Haiti, and are
included in many private and corporate collections.
